Brighton & Hove Albion’s under-23s’ Premier League 2 Division 2 Play-Off Final against Aston Villa takes place on Saturday 12th May at Villa Park, kick-off 12pm.

Albion reached the final after beating Middlesbrough 3-0 in a semi-final tie at the Amex, and know that victory over the Villans will secure a place in Premier League 2 Division 1 next season.

With the final game of the Premier League season away at Liverpool taking place on Sunday, Seagulls fans are being encouraged to make it a weekend double header and support Simon Rusk’s side on their way to the game.

Tickets will be available on the gate for the match, and are priced at £4 for adults and £1 for concessions.

Be good to see a few Brighton Supporters get to this massive game for the U23s , not to far from Villa park to Anfield

I will be hoping for a beamback.

Had a look at Villa's official website and can't see anything as yet to suggest it will be televised , but looking at their excellent version of Seagulls TV ( Casting still there ) they have plenty of U23 extended highlights from this season , so it's quite possible it will be available online to watch somewhere on the interweb

Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton urged the club’s supporters to extend their footballing weekend with a trip to Villa Park on Saturday, as the under-23s play Aston Villa in the Premier League 2 Division 2 Play-Off Final - kick-off 12pm.

Simon Rusk’s side find themselves one game away from promotion - and with the first team in action against Liverpool on Sunday, Hughton encouraged fans to show their support en route to Anfield over the weekend.

He said, “It’s a really good opportunity for our supporters to get themselves to Villa Park, make a weekend of it and for us to have a really good support there.

“We’ve got an under-23 group that have been excellent all season and have made really good progress.

“For them to get to a final on Saturday against Villa at Villa Park, it’s something incredibly exciting for us. It would be a massive achievement [to win promotion].

Victory would see Albion playing against the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur next season, and Hughton believes it would be an exciting challenge for the under-23s.

The Albion boss also praised Simon Rusk and his coaching staff for the terrific job they’ve done throughout the season, as the Seagulls finished third in the league before beating Middlesbrough in their play-off semi-final.

“As a club, it would see us playing against some of the biggest and most established teams in the Premier League, which would raise the bar of our young players looking to push into the first team group.

“Because it’s our first season in the Premier League and every game is a big game, sometimes the good work around and underneath perhaps doesn’t get the attention that it should do, but Simon Rusk has done an exceptional job all season.”

Albion supporters can purchase tickets on the gate at Villa Park, with tickets priced at £4 for adults and £1 for concessions.

Aston Villa have provided an explanation on their website for the timing of the match - U23s Final: Explanation of Play-Off date

Find below an explanation of the Villa v Brighton U23 Play-Off Final date, which is set to take place on the same day as our first team Play-Off away leg at Middlesbrough.

The scheduling of the match was determined by the Premier League.

Aston Villa submitted a request for the final to take place outside the designated dates of the 4th to 7th May due to our U23s participating on the Premier League Cup Final on 4th May.

Unfortunately, Brighton have a Sussex Senior Cup Final against Crawley Town on Wednesday 9th May, which we were advised could not be rescheduled thus preventing the fixture from taking place this week.

Competition rules state that the final must be played at the home venue of the highest-placed Play-Off finisher.

With our second-leg Championship play-off tie against Middlesbrough taking place on Tuesday 15th May, the fixture couldn’t take place beyond Saturday to allow sufficient time for the pitch at Villa Park to be prepared properly for the first-team.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The club is currently working on broadcasting the game live on our media channels for supporters who are unable to attend due to travelling to Middlesbrough for the Play-Off first leg.

There will be at least 5 , so 3 stand or falls , and 2 win the cups .

I need to earn some Brownie points to do this. Hotels scarce in Liverpool and Brum (at a reasonable price) for Saturday night though. My hotel room for Liverpool is £65 ( booked weeks ago) but the last one available for an extra night is over £200!!
