When it was released it was touted as the most innovative brilliant pop album ever. In threads on great albums it hardly features on NSC music threads of great albums. Does it still stand up for you?

Personally I think it is an underrated album in the 21st Century, I still enjoy listening to every track even though I must have heard it more than a thousand times.

1. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
2. With a Little Help from My Friends
3. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
4. Getting Better

Good album but not even The Beatles’ best - Revolver.

Good album but not even The Beatles’ best - Revolver.

Hmm not convinced myself. It has got some fabulous tracks but there is quite a bit of padding, unlike Sgt Peppers

Taxman, Yellow Submarine, Good Day Sunshine, Got To Get You Into My Life, She said She said and Dr Robert are all very average pop songs and so make it inferior to Sgt Peppers, again just imo

Tracklist
1 Taxman 2:39
2 Eleanor Rigby 2:07
3 I'm Only Sleeping 3:01
4 Love You To
5 Here, There And Everywhere 2:25
6 Yellow Submarine 2:40
7 She Said She Said 2:37
8 Good Day Sunshine 2:09
9 And Your Bird Can Sing 2:01
10 For No One
11 Doctor Robert 2:15
12 I Want To Tell You 2:29
13 Got To Get You Into My Life 2:30
14 Tomorrow Never Knows 2:57

Good album but not even The Beatles’ best - Revolver.

They saved the best til last imho. Abbey Road. Revolver a close second though

First proper album I ever bought - masterpiece from the songwriting to the production, concept to the sleeve. Genuinely groundbreaking then and still sounds great now.

In terms of pure songwriting Rubber Soul is, imho, the best Beatles album

I’m with you, it’s also my favourite Beatles album, not as ground breaking as Sgt Peppers, but I love pretty well every track on Rubber Soul, rather than just like them. The exception being Drive My Car which I tend to skip when listening.

. Drive My Car
2. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
3. You Won't See Me
4. Nowhere Man
5. Think For Yourself
6. The Word
7. Michelle
8. What Goes On
9. Girl
10. I'm Looking Through You
11. In My Life
12. Wait
13. If I Needed Someone
14. Run For Your Life

Good album but not even The Beatles’ best - Revolver.

Not being the Beatle's best does not stop it still being one of the best pop albums ever.

I couldn't call it between the two to be honest. 1 day it might be Pepper, next day Revolver. Tomorrow Never Knows at the end of Revolver is one of my all time favourite tracks though, I seem to recall the Chemical Brothers calling it their manifesto.

A truly transformative Album to say musically and culturally it changed everything is not going to far go listern to what was being produced before and after it was a complete game changer

Proves why Ray Davies was a superior song writer to Lennon/McCartney.

You are obsessed by the Kinks (very very good band I admit), there are quite a few NSCers who are obsessed by the Who, The Sex Pistols and The Jam. It doesn't mean that they are the best bands though

My favourite Beatles album? Tough one. I think I'd have to say The Best of The Beatles.
