Do you remember David Coleman and the TELEPRINTER? It would clack away giving the results as they came in, then, for some reason would stop at Brighton & Hove Alb . . . . . as if the bloody machine had gone for a shit!!

Died in 97, so probably not. Agree though, 30 stone bloke in a mankini whose specialist move was the ‘splash’ - basically falling down. The long winter afternoons watching World of Sport just flew by.

Looking back I don't know why I watched it, the ITV seven was never ending, never really liked Wrestling (old grannies waving their walking sticks around) the racing results were never ending, the rugby results were never ending.
And on the other side was Rugby League with Eddie Waring, usually from Widnes.
The Grandstand teleprinter was ace though.

Same here. I used to spend Saturdays with my grandparents, and they absolutely loved it (sure my grandmother didn’t realise it was in any way staged) so we watched it...........guess it killed time until the football results came on and grandad checked his coupon. Only time he ever got angry was when anyone made a sound when the results were being read out........

How long before this thread descends into "its rigged", "No it isn't" shitstorm? some of them go down like Zaha entering the penalty area, no wonder so many go on to acting careers. Roddy Piper, Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura and of course The Rock.
