Sussex CCC have revealed their shirts for 2018 - a supposed nod to deckchairs. Hmmm...

The Palace shirt should sell like hot cakes at the County Ground.

Deepest, darkest Sussex
At least they've ditched that horrible yellow one.

Shocking schoolboy error to design a Sussex top with blue and red stripes. The prospect of being mistaken for a Palace fan is beyond horrifying.

Yep, can't see many buying that red and blue one.

Good research you SCCC guys, you've nailed it!!

I like the blue one...the red not so much, although I hadn't even linked it to Palace colours tbh...

The white one looks lovely though with the aerotron logo, & no doubt son #2 will be wanting it!

Not a fan of any of them but the sponsors seem a bit random;

Aerotron?!? (a quick google reveals they are "one of Europe’s leading suppliers to the aviation industry specialising in component support solutions to both the Civil and Military markets"),
Boundless?!? (I assume this is as per Wikipedia "Boundless by CSMA (formerly the Civil Service Motoring Association) is a private club in the UK, established in 1923. Its membership of around 230,000 is restricted to past and present members of the UK Civil Service and organisations that were formerly part of the British Civil Service)

Good that they are willing to give money to Sussex but what's in it for them? Who is looking to pick an aircraft component and is going to be swayed by their sponsoring a cricket team? Surely sponsors should be mainstream, i.e. I want a credit card, hmmm I'll go for American Express as they support something I like.

This is true, and more than likely a name comparable to Amex wouldn't be interested in a 2nd division county cricket team but maybe a smaller company (IT First, Brighton and Hove Jobs etc), or a different industry where the company is attempting to attract your every day man on the street (or sat in the members pavilion) would be.

Given the obscurity industry and therefore the limited audience then I can only assume the MD of Aerotron is a SCCC fan & therefore happy to chuck a % of his profits their way in exchange for having the company name on the shirt without any expectation of a return on the investment.

Aerotron also sponsor the Indoor Training Centre / School at the County Ground - So Im assuming they have quite a connection with the club in some way.

Don’t be fooled. After a few beers I bet more than a few will see the shirt and it’ll remind them to order a few aircraft wings and components in the morning.

I like the white shirt. Palace one should be an epic failure. Couldn’t see Surrey having blue and white stripes

Quite right. I believe l'm right in saying that American Express were approached several times by the Albion during the Withdean years searching for sponsorship, but they weren't interested until such time as we moved into a much bigger stadium, and were playing in a higher division. Hence since the 2011/12 season we have the the Amex Stadium, shirt sponsorship, and a whole lot more.

I hope they consulted Mike Punter BEFORE they selected that top .... if not they'll regret it I'm sure!
