35 Years We've Been Waiting to Visit Goodison Park....................

And Mrs P has organised a late birthday trip out in London for me that Saturday. Concert tickets and hotel all booked and paid for, so can't really say no

Did you not give her a copy of the fixture list back in June?

I hope so - I've got a sneaky feeling it's going to feel a bit crap

The away fans are in one corner, and the lower-tier views are pretty poor, I'm told. But the huge, odd-shaped main stand, the church in one corner, the narrow, terraced streets all hemming the ground in ... proper old-school.

Some choice insults though: "Moon-headed dinosaur"; "hamster-cheeked bellwhiff"; "gravy guzzler"

One has to respect supporters who come up with these insults.

Exactly this, I've been numerous times but never to see the Albion obviously.Always seem to get to sit behind one of those concrete pillars that hold the roof up on one of the side stands with a couple of cloth capped scousers berating their team for a full 90 minutes. Bloody funny those scousers!

Bloody Worthing!
By a coincidence I was clearing out my loft yesterday and came across the programme for the match at Goodison in 1979 (a bit earlier of course). For anyone who remembers that era here is the team:

Moseley
Suddaby
Williams
Horton
Foster
Stevens
Ryan
Ward
Clarke
Lawrenson (yes, listed as number 10)
O'Sullivan

Can't remember a thing about the game other than that I was sitting at the top of a very high stand.
