Happy first birthday Brighton and Hove Albion North Stand Chess Club! We started off at 27000+ in the chess com world rankings and in our first year have risen 25515 places to #1485. Set up for exclusively BHAFC fans, if any supporters play chess, or used to play and fancies a game, then look us up and join.

For any club members who perhaps havent been around a while (or indeed any new BHA fan interested in joining us)

We are having an Easter Sunday BHANSC blitz arena tomorrow evening. Come pop by, registration from 19:30, start at 20:30, duration 1 hour

They are 3 minute games, great fun (subjective I suppose), and open to all levels. Games this fast are riddled with mistakes (for many of us) so as you lose or win one, you simply move onto the next game. Its like a royal rumble.carnage. If anyone plays or has kids who want to play perhaps, this a a great time to join in:)

I've signed up to chess.com and joined the BHA NSC group. I can't find the tournament though. I've tried clicking on ' tournaments ' both on the main site and on our group but don't see it.

Help...


Edit......No worries.....got it now.....

A-ha, I need to join this! I've been on Chess.com for a couple of months having recently dusted off my board and started playing again. I never put it together with this old thread, I just happened to spot [MENTION=1557]maffew[/MENTION] on the website, and it's all started to fall into place since. Hopefully the chess club is still going, as I'm off to try and find it and join.

It certainly is.

We play in different comps v other teams, with loads being against other football teams supporters.

We've also got an internal league on the go.

Anyone know if any of the Albion players play the game? I can see Pascal Groß plotting his moves in advance, doing the chess equivalent of a Cruyff turn ...

Always amazes me how many times that move comes off for him. His version of the Cruyff is in slow motion but by god it usually works.

Any members, existing or new. We will be doing an evening of blitz on Sunday at 20:30 for an hour. It will be an arena, 5mins on the clock each with loads of chaotic and fun games and errors a plenty. Any questions ask away!! Our club is thriving with regular games against clubs representing football clubs from around the world from Ajax to Zenit.

Some of the current matches in progress we have are again Spartak Moscow, Manchester United, Liverpool, Dinamo Zagreb, Bayern Munich. Whatever your level of chess, even total beginner/learning the rules, if you are a Brighton fan you are welcome to join us..
