Former Celtic, Man U and Sunderland player has sadly died aged 36.

Former Republic of Ireland international Liam Miller has died of cancer at the age of 36.

The midfielder was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in November and returned home to his native Cork from the US, where he had been playing, to receive treatment for the condition.

Miller earned 21 senior caps for his country between 2004 and 2009 - he scored one goal.

At club level he played for Celtic, Manchester United, Leeds United, Sunderland, QPR, Hibernian, Perth Glory, Brisbane Roar and Cork City.

RIP

He was only diagnosed in November - in an reassuring way, assuming he knew he had mere months, it gave him precious time to 'say goodbye'. How few of us will have that opportunity when our time comes?

Awful news, I remember him being signed by Sir Alex and dubbing him the Roy Keane replacement. Had a good career with Celtic and Sunderland. RIP
