Having spent all day today in the PRH A&E Dept I would like to convey my utter gratitude and respect to the people who work in this most wonderful of institutions.

They are quite simply special.

Whether you were in there for yourself or a friend/family member I hope they have helped to resolve the health issues.

My eldest daughter is a nurse in Worthing A & E.......and the team work there is fantastic. I shall pass on your praise for the PRH A & E.

I find the NHS as a whole marvelous. Never had any gripes. Saw the quacks Monday lunchtime about some dodgy looking moles and today less than 48 hours later was at the DGH in Eastbourne seeing a specialist and having them checked and photographed.

Now thats a health service to be proud of !

You know you spend too much time on here when you misread the title NSC angels

The NHS really is generally very very good and lucky to have it, paying private abroad is/can be extremely expensive. One of us would need to be really ill to go the doctors which arent even covered by medical aid. I had the top scheme with the top company for my med aid and it still didnt cover much

NHS is alright :)

Totally agree.

My grandad passed away on Sunday morning in the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth.

For the duration of his stay there, even (probably even especially) when it became clear what the end result would be, he was looked after absolutely superbly by all of the nurses on the ward.

They did every single that they could possibly to do make, and keep, him as comfortable and settled as possible, while providing support, information and comfort to all the various family members who visited him - I cannot fault a single thing about the care he received, and take comfort from knowing he was looked after when it was most needed.

Sincere condolences for your loss, mate.

I might well have met her. Been thru A&E 24th October and ITU/HDU until 2nd January and now on Respiratory ward expecting discharge today or tomorrow. My life was saved a few times - so grateful to the NHS and the dedicated people who work in it.

And it's not being made particularly easy for them at the moment with all the building work going on !

Hope all is well buddy.

Yeah saw all that going on, you still up there?

As for me, dunno, but it wasn't a heart attack, which is nice.

Yep still here, waiting for the building work to finish so I can get in to sort the IT bit out.

See you soon hopefully.

The NHS is amazing as are the staff involved. It's become politically expedient to constantly run it down and look at only the problems. Must be soul destroying for all those working in it. The media and political parties and pressure groups COULD focus on the fantastic every day successes of the NHS and then work together to find solutions for the problems (and problems will always exist). But scoring cheap political points or writing dramatic negative headlines appears to be the only objective

I can sympathise with this sentiment as I have the very same view of the treatment of my Mum when she died in Greenwich District Hospital in 1997. The staff there were absolutely superb. I was shocked to find that that hospital has now gone and has been replaced by housing
