Here's a link to the planned timetable changes by Southern in response to the proposed RMT industrial action.

In summary, there are very few planned cancellations that will affect travel to/from Falmer. These are:
17:13 West Worthing to Brighton
18:01 Hove - Brighton shuttle
That is not to guarantee, of course, that there won't be the usual Southern/TL problems exacerbated by the RMT action. But if other RMT dispute days are a guide, I would suggest the prospect of problems is no worse than 'normal'. Which I admit is quite high.
Hope this is helpful.
