I watched it, initially thought red but with the benefit of replays and alcohol, I see he had eyes on the ball plus the no.8 ducked slightly into the ball. Definitely yellow

I’d say only yellow as there’s no intent and he’s looking at the ball & doesn’t realise where the other player is. Difficult one though, as he does also kick the guy in the head.

Football writers and ex players are adamant this evening that it should've been a red for wreckless play or endangering an opponent.

The question of legitimately going for the ball, is a complete irrelevance under modern rules.
