And one of mine. Used to see him around the Brunel campus in mid '80s. On the borderline of bonkers and complete genius, he always seemed to veer to the genius side.

Me too ... back when all the trees on campus were staked, its brutalist architecture was regularly seen on TV dramas, all the news was in Le Nurb and Ruddles was 28p a pint. Once you heard an academic with an accent like that, you knew it was most likely a Jewish refugee from the Nazis. HW was our very own eccentric professor. I'll miss him.

RIP Heinz.
