Pounds spent on the whole team would be more appropriate rather than pounds spent in 17/18, although Burnely would still be top no doubt.

Is this on transfer fees, or wages as well? Because if it's just on transfer fees it's a pretty pointless statistic.

How would they know wage bills for this season if accounts haven't been published yet?

It could mean figures for Newcastle, Huddersfield and ourselves are based on our wage bill in the Championship and wont reflect necessarily reflect any new signings wages and new / improved contracts to existing players
