Apart from Dunk, obviously, Barnes is the only one of that starting XI who would come close to getting a start.

Buckley at his distant, rare, best, next closest.

Crikey that defence certainly had a lop sided look to it. Not a natural left back amongst them. Can anyone remember who actually played there?

Hang on, are you really saying that these players would make the current squad?

Ashley Barnes would, Vicente might, but definately not the others.

Noony played in the Prem long before our current squad,Kaz in 2012 was good enough, and I thought Brez was a good keeper.

From memory, we used an extra Centre Back (El Abd) to man-mark Andy Carroll.

You might be able to persuade me on the Noony front, (although was he any better than Solly or Izquierdo? we don't need another left winger in the squad). Kaz has never really played Premier League football, and as for Brezovan, well, just a no really.

I could have sworn Vincelot played left back in this game as I remember being really impressed by him. Unless I'm thinking of another cup game vs Prem opponents, Newcastle perhaps?

Well Vokes and Barnes moved on up after they left us and both play in the PL for an arguably better side than us, so they might be in with a look-in

According to 11v11.com he was an unused sub. Substitutions were:

Craig Noone for Will Buckley 46
Craig Mackail-Smith for Sam Vokes 69
Vicente for Adam El-Abd 69

How many years is it since you got something right? And yes, that's what's called a rhetorical question. Maybe ask your carer to show you what that means in the dictionary (big book with lots of words in).

Looks like I was thinking of the Carling Cup in 2011 where Liverpool beat us 2-1.

This was the lineup that day

Greer
Vincelot

Noone
Navarro
Sparrow
Buckley

Mackail-Smith

Subs:
Brezovan

Kasim
