[Travel] A27 traffic already awful

Have just been in a 10 minute jam from Stanmer Park to Patcham on the A27 westbound. No incidents, just the shear volume of traffic. Long before rush hour.

Closing Mill Road and the football traffic will grind it to a halt.

Brightonians leaving work early to avoid the crush later?
10 minutes is nothing. 45 minutes eastbound A27 Lewes by-pass most nights.

Yes! 'Rush hours' have been much longer than the traditional 5-6 for years now.

Mates got to the bottom of the Mill Road park n ride at 6.10.

Still stuck on A27 somewhere near Coldean/Stanmer almost an hour later.

They reckon that’s slower than any recent evening match.

We got there about 6:20 and were turned away. Made it to the Racecourse but that is also rammed so parking cars along next to the track.

I reckon loads have decided to avoid the trains tonight (cue people telling us the trains are rammed too).

On a bus on Falmer Road now queueing for the lights. Not going to be enjoying that slow pre match Harvey’s tonight.
