Hello all,

I'm not asking for money (though if anyone feels like making a donation, we won't say no!), but feedback from the good people of NSC :)

My family were involved in setting up and still help to run a charity in Zambia which helps children and adults affected by HIV/AIDs. The HEAL (HIV Empowered And Living) Project was started in 1999 and is based in Lusaka, Zambia providing a school for 350 children whose parents are sick or have passed away, as well as income generation schemes, a community centre, and a home for orphaned children with HIV/AIDs especially those who need looking after and medication. Activities at the community centre include arts and crafts, trading and gardening and project members undertake AIDS and TB education and awareness activities. It costs around £3000 a month to keep the everything going including paying the teachers, feeding the children etc.

We are also a UK registered charity which is where a lot of the money is raised, and every penny goes to the charity in Zambia as we have no administration fees and everyone is a volunteer. I set up and maintain the website and social media, but being a server-side developer/database administrator this isn't really my forte! We have no advertising beyond the events we go to (mainly in Hampshire) and our online presence and any promotion we would do in future (if it would be helpful) would be funded by the volunteers themselves. This Christmas I have launched a campaign to raise funds for much needed classroom repairs on JustGiving, as well as linking up with a site called Give As You Live (which includes most major retailers (like John Lewis) and a lot of other shops) which gets a donation to the charity at no cost to the buyer when people link to the shops from that site.

However we're not getting much interest in either, or in our website/social media pages so I'm looking for feedback on the website, campaigns etc in order to work out how to increase the engagement and especially the donation rate as every little helps! If you have time I would be grateful to hear your comments either here or by email. In particular, I'd like to know how you would improve the website and/or social media, what would make you follow the charity on Social Media, and what would make you engage with/donate to the campaigns?

Thanks for reading my post, and in advance for any suggestions, and please be kind - I know that they all need work!

p.s. Thanks Bozza for letting me post - much appreciated.
