Albion U-23s kick-off the defence of the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup that they won in May when they travel to the Lashmar, East Preston this evening for a second round fixture. Kick-off is at 7:30pm (although the preview on the club website has the kick-off as 7:45pm).

East Preston currently lie 16th in the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division.

Albion U-23s have won just one of their last six fixtures, a 1-0 victory at Southampton on October 30 when the Saints were reduced to ten men early in the game.

I have no inside info, but I'd be surprised if any first-team squad members were involved. In fact, taking last season as a guide, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fairly young team that included a handful of scholars.

The U-23s have another fixture at Stoke City on Saturday.

Dan Huet doubled East Preston's lead two minutes into the second half but Ryan Longman has halved the deficit and given Albion hope: East Preston 2 - 1 Albion U-23s
