This year will shall be taking the short stroll down the hill to watch from the Rookery

It is important to maintain these long held Brighton traditions.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Decades ago they used to go past the Kings Head at Albourne on the A23. Imagine the fun if they were sent down there along the motorway.

For a nasty moment I thought we were talking about the right back slot:lol:
For those on NSC who are devoid of a sense of humour and wish to feel aggrieved on behalf of others.....yes, it was an ageist joke, get over it

Best wishes to those injured.

I notice the BBC article says the race "... commemorates the Emancipation Run in 1896, celebrating the Locomotives on the Highway Act which raised the speed limit from 4mph to 14mph and abolished the requirement for vehicles to be preceded by a man on foot."

I was wondering about historical car speeds and speed limits, as I recently found a newspaper article about my great-grandfather - he got done for speeding in 1907, for doing "29 miles 1.065 yards per hour".

It was a police trap, timed over 220 yards, and his failed defence was that the police watches were incorrect. Maybe Edna's great-grandfather was the copper?
