Following on from the great scone debate, my wife and I have been discussing the correct pronunciation of the chewy delight. Is it noogar or nugget? Come on NSC don't fail me. This matters.

My wife, from somewhere north of Gretna calls it nuggit

It must be a regional thing then,my wife is from Northern Ireland and in the Nugget camp. I pointed out its a French word and she said "I'm not French".

It's always been noogarr you are just late to the party having pronounced it wrong all your life :wink:

It was always ‘nuggit’ in deepest Devon, even though Nooooogarrrrrrrrr would’ve worked just as well.
