The worst injuries always seem to come from the most innocuous looking situations.

Have seen a few broken bones and discloations playing over the years, but probably the worst was actually a facial injury. Two lads were going for the ball, on the ground, near the touchline and one of them simply attempted to shield it out of play. This meant the lad behind him ended up colliding with the back of his head.

Looked like nothing from where I was stood, but he went down like a sack of spuds. When I got there, and this is really hard to describe, he'd managed to dislocate his jaw and several of his lower teeth had gone straight through his upper lip - absolutely pissing blood as you'd imagine. Took around 10 minutes for the ambulance to arrive, by which time he'd gone into shock.

Brutal.
