Look at the field pattern. It's Falmer and Stanmer Laines. There's no Pond either.

Interesting.

The giant coal gas tanks in Hove where Tesco's is now.

1000's of allotments, now the Polyclinic, Hospice and Wayfield Avenue.

Masses of allotments encouraged for WW2 food production, including Wish Park and school fields.

The Greyhound Stadium had a second large stand, in the heyday of crowds.

Even then, farmers had obliterated the precious downland, with massive fields and ancient hedgerows in short supply.

That's a surprise. We've always been told the destruction of the countryside was later from then until the 1970's, a reaction to the country being starved by Nazi Germany in WW2.

Very few people cared about the the planet then.

Ah, the Orchard Road stand at the Greyhound stadium. Great nights out at the dogs in the 80's.
