National Rail are showing 2 trains an hour back to Brighton after the Southampton game. They showed the same for the Everton game despite club saying it would be a full match day service so I drove in. Was it a nightmare after Everton? Who was lying?

It was not a nightmare after Everton. Stayed behind for a pint and then walked straight onto a train about 45mins/hour after final whistle.

I think this happens for pretty much every non-Saturday 3pm game now, doesn't it...?

National Rail schedule shows few trains, engineering works, replacement buses, general non-service, etc etc but the actual service for matchday at Falmer is the normal fairly excellent provision.

I went straight to the station after the whistle from WSU and the queue looked bad at first. However, I was on a train back to Brighton after 20 mins. Whatever the moaners say that is not bad after attending a major sporting occasion. Having said that don't let me put off anyone who was planning on using their car!

Stayed and clapped players off the pitch, went down and the station queue for Brighton was longest I'd ever seen it. Went to bus stop on A27 and got a 28 straight away. No idea how quickly the station queue moved but it did look terrible.

The trains at the weekend have more carriages than midweek games so the queues seem to disappear quicker.

It was terrible. I find it mind-numbingly boring just standing there in a queue, so I decided to just go for a walk and come back, when there was still a queue, albeit a much smaller one!

Had I left at 85-90 minutes I would have got home 1hr 30 minutes earlier. That's why people do it!

I even took a picture.

I never get the grizzles about the train queues. I left the WSU on the final whistle, trotted down to the station, and was squeezing my way onto a train about 20 minutes later. The queue moves very quickly, and there was another train due about 7 or 8 minutes later IIRC.

Considering there's 30,000 people to clear away (albeit not all by train obvs), I think it all works remarkably well.

West Ham, Arsenal, Leicester, Watford and others.
At the Amex it is generally accepted that it takes between 15 and 45 minutes to get away from the ground.
How about the other grounds though? Other than the police escort at Leicester, it takes as long or longer elsewhere. Main road, lots of well organised buses and coaches plus train station that has a good queuing system. We really are spoilt.

West Ham was actually superb, walked straight onto a tube at Stratford after a 10-15 minute walk to the station. Not sure what it would have been like if about three quarters of the West Ham supporters hadn't gone by the time Glenn's penalty hit the back of the net.......

The best way is to stay and have a drink with mates, whilst looking at the highlights on the concourse TVs. Pootle down to the station 20-30 mins later and walk straight onto the platform. You even get the times of the trains on other screens in the concourse, so you can time it right.

We are indeed. Just a shame that a sizeable majority still seem to think otherwise. Just goes to show that you can't please all of the people all of the time I guess.

It appears to me that generally those that complain about the queues home, etc., etc., are possibly those that have never been to away matches, not saying all. Clearing a ground of 30k they do remarkably well at the Amex. Try getting on the tube from Wembley, for an extreme example, after a full capacity game.

I've never noticed that, thanks!
