We won't know until the end of year accounts are published. It's pointless even trying to extrapolate any meaningful data from last year's figures because the PL changes everything. I guess you could try to look at trends with other recently promoted sides but you'd need to be careful which data to pick because for instance Burnley and Reading had a completely different attitude to their wage structure than say, QPR.

I'd hazard a guess that it is at least £20k average per week for the main squad of 25 = £500k per week or £26m for the year (obviously some earn more and other lesser mortals will be earning less than average).

Depending on the amount re-negotiated into new contracts this Summer, it could easily be higher and into £30m to £35m range.

Other Development Squad and youth team contracts might amount to another £2m- £3m annual, so in total somewhere between £28m and £38m would be my calculated estimate.

Doe anyone know how much is paid to players? Or can we even guess???

Why is there a need to know.

It is something that never pops to the front of my mind, its just something I have no desire or need to know.

I'm far more interested in what is happening on the pitch and the usual transfer goings and comings.

£240k a day? £20k an hour? 2k every 6 minutes? £200 every 36 seconds?

Yes, its a lot. Footballers are paid too much.

Arguably.

Although you can also think of football as one of the more socialist industries out there. In most walks of life business owners and shareholders make money off the back of low-salaried workers whilst often doing very little themselves. In football the workers on the shop-floor, i.e. the players, share in the success.

and paying through the nose for TICKET prices and very little chance of getting to an away game , sounds good to me:shrug:

I think players wages averaged 25k per week in the championship last season???
