Gooners have been celebrating St Totteringham's Day, being the day each season that Spurs can no longer catch Arsenal, for quite a few years. All gone for a burton now of course, but they had fun with that for ages.
I'm wondering whether we start having a similar tradition whereby each year we celebrate the day that the impressive league record Crystal Palace have achieved this fine season is kept as their own.
Just to clarify, with their loss at the Etihad Stadium, the Eagles became the first side in English professional football history to lose their first six games of the season without scoring a single goal. However high (or low) they manage to get the bar on this particular record before they are done, it is one to be proud of, one to celebrate, and I think it is only right that each season, when that last team in the League gets their first goal, or point, securing Palace as holders of that record for another year we should all have a little celebration of St. Palace Day.
"Oh yes, 5 games in Southend United have finally scored their first goal of the season. 5 defeats in a row, but they have now scored. A solid effort there, but Crystal Palace still hold the record with their incredible (insert final number) game run of defeats and no goals at the start of the 2017/18 campaign. And so the record is held for another year by Crystal Palace. Happy St. Palace day everyone."
Sound like fun?
