Used to go regularly at the Duke Of Norfolk but haven't found a good replacement...any suggestions for a regular weekly pub quiz?

The 2 longest established weekly quizzes that I am aware of are at the Battle of Trafalgar and at the Lion and Lobster. Both of these run on a Monday night.

The Battle's quiz is hosted by Dave Potter who is probably about the most well-known quizmaster in Brighton pubs, having been hosting and setting quizzes for over 30 years. He also hosts on a Sunday night at the Open House and The Station by Preston Park station on Thursdays. All of his quizzes follow the same format of 5 or 6 subject based general knowledge rounds with 2 subjects combined in a round (Cinema and Sport for instance) and then a final round where you can score 36 points as you rank your answers by how confident you are (8 for most confident, down to 1). This is probably the best "traditional" pub quiz in Brighton, as a lot are now aimed more at students, with plasticine rounds etc.

The Lion & Lobster have been running a quiz on Monday nights for over 20 years. The guy who used to host it, Stan, stopped running it about 5-6 years ago after his wife passed away. Since then, 2 other guys have taken turns at hosting the quiz. There's 4 main rounds, plus a picture round. The first round is on current events, the next 2 are on general knowledge and the last round is a Wipeout round where if you submit any wrong answers you wipe out all your points from that round. The main gimmick with this quiz is that the winners aren't guaranteed to win the money. Whoever wins sends a representative up to pick an envelope with the prize money being in 1 envelope with the other 2 envelopes being for a meal for 2 in their restaurant and the booby prize (a selection of bar snacks usually). It's a decent enough quiz, but the downside is that you have to book a table as the pub gets very busy on quiz night because of the prize money often rolling over.

Other ones to bear in mind are at The Good Companions on Tuesday which is run by a father and son who use Powerpoint to host the quiz, which gives the quiz a bit of a corporate feel. I believe they also host at The Station pub in Hove on another night. There's also a decent quiz at the Three Jolly Butchers on a Thursday night and the one at The Hanover in Queens Park Road isn't bad.

The best quiz of all, however, doesn't run every week, but once a month on the last Sunday of the month at the Duke of Wellington. But then I would say that because I host it! We had a team of Albion fans taking part last weekend and there are 7 rounds including pictures, music, themed general knowledge rounds and a final round called Total Recall worth 36 points which somewhat adapts Dave Potter's last round. On top of that we also introduced a Snowball competition earlier this year, where the prize fund has yet to be claimed. There's a guaranteed spot prize thrown in though for whoever is nearest to the right answer. Next quiz there is on Sunday 29 October, but hoping eventually to make it a fortnightly quiz if we can.
