Retired through ill health (emphysemia) 10 years ago, so it looks as if the old girl put up a good fight. Still, 78 is not that great an age these days. Anyway, RIP Liz.

It was seeing the effects of emphysemia on a once strong and healthy friend of my parents that made me give up smoking. Ten years of fighting that would be very grim.RIP

Vera and Jack Duckworth are arguably the best comedy wife and husband ever on Corrie.
