what I can't work out though is once I've done this my windows are covered in egg yolk the next morning

There's a really crap museum all about Belgian cartoons (mainly about Tin Tin if I remember rightly) too!
To be fair though, the public transport system is pretty impressive.

This. There's one particular pub called Poechenellekelder in Brussels I've been to a couple of times. Absolutely brilliant beer list. They won't serve you a beer unless they have the correct glass to match.
