I've not played a football video game for years but with the Amex featuring in FIFA 18, I'm tempted to get involved.

Things seem to have progressed somewhat from Match Day on the Spectrum: https://www.footballwhispers.com/bl...medium=affiliates&utm_source=north-stand-chat

Is it worth getting involved or will I just get smashed by the kids?

Out on September 29th it seems: Amazon link

You will get destroyed by the kids, yes. And by on-line Japanese geeks.

But that doesn't really matter.

When my son first got an Xbox I played FIFA for a bit and could give him a decent game. A matter of weeks later, he absolutely battered me in every game. Unless you have a huge amount of spare time to waste on getting good at it then yes, you'll get smashed by the kids. It's a bloody good game though.

I didn't buy FIFA 17 at all, don't think I got a FIFA on the release date since FIFA 13. Last few years just waited till it dropped in price.

Definitely buying this one on release though just for the AMEX and Brighton Premier League players!

Speaking of FIFA 18, want to see the Amex in action?

First Amex gameplay to be published I believe, looks absolutely amazing! :)

Thankfully my wife wakes up about 3 hours after me at a weekend so I normally get a good 6 hours practice in each week.

That's a whole day every month lost to Career Mode :lolol:

Maybe we should have a league for 30 year + supporters and another for 45 year old +, to account for impaired dexterity and eye-sight!!! [emoji23]

I used to be really good. Last year I was terrible. Any ideas why?

Yeah you got old. Fifa 09 was my bread and butter - played over 2000 online matches and had about 80% online win rate. I was 23 then and it's all gone down hill. Now I'm lucky if I win 30%. I've got progressively worse each year.

Yep.

Will undoubtedly be getting this "for my son" and he will undoubtedly kick my butt at it immediately, since he's been playing the demo version and I haven't.

I'm 35 and still love FIFA on the rare opportunity I get to play it as my kids are 3 and 1. I've currently got a Xbox 360 though which is now really dated so will be investing in an Xbox One for this release with the Amex. Very excited about it.
