1) Although we didn't get the striker we were after, we do have attacking players who scored a total of 110 goals in their respective leagues last year: Murray 23, Izquierdo 16, Knockaert 15, Hemed 14, Baldock 12, Propper 10, Brown 8, Gross 5, Murphy 4, March 3. Okay, they weren't the Premier League, but half that many goals would be likely to put us mid-tablish.

2) Murray's injury is not as bad as first thought. He hasn't yet made it in the Premier League and his knees seem to have gone, but he has nous, he can score goals and he scored lots of goals when Palace had Zahar and Benteke either side of him. We have Knockaert and Izquierdo who could do the same job.

3) The teams around us, are not world beaters. We hit the ground with a bump against Man City and Leicester, but our squad will gain confidence from the performance against Watford, where we were already on top before the sending off. I actually think that we would have been more likely to win that game had it stayed 11 v 11 and Watford had not gone more defensive.

4) A lot of fans of other teams seem just as abject regarding their transfer business and have other problems too. West Ham, Newcastle, Palace are all looking very wobbly.

5) We know that the existing squad are fighters. They are used to not being the most talented players in their league, but compensating by striving to be the best team.

6) In the last five January windows Tony has bought us Murray 2017, Knockaert 2016, Kayal 2015, Stephens 2014 & Ulloa 2013. The club have gained experience the hard way this summer and should learn from it quickly. Tony Bloom has shown in the past that, if this is not the case, he is willing to make changes to move things forward.

7) We are favourites to go down. We know we will lose a lot of games. However, we have a manager who is known for not getting over-excited by runs of success or runs of failure. He will make sure that the squad keeps focused whatever the circumstances.

8) The defence looks good and has been strengthened. We have a keeper to challenge Ryan. He is also tall so Warren Aspinall should be a bit happier.

9) The club has repeatedly proven itself capable of overcoming hurdles far larger than not signing a player they want.

10) If we do end up going down, we'll be back in the Championship. That has been a lot of fun at times.

11) Why don't you get back into bed?

We've got a once in a generation or two opportunity to admire some of the best players in the world at the Amex. Kane, Coutinho, Mane, Morata, Hazard. We may well never see the skills and pace of these players, live, ever again.

Embrace it and enjoy.

14) We didn't sign Niasse.

The most average player in the history of average. It would've felt so average signing such an average player, that average would've suddenly become the new average. Too average even for a team without any centre-forwards.

We dodged a very average bullet.

13) BBC Proms celebration of STAX, absolutely brilliant, big grin on my face just watching it.

Did Tom Jones murdering Dock of the Bay whilst putting his arm around the bloke who co-wrote it not wipe the smile of your face? Cropper tried to show him the timing and the space, but he was having none of it, racing through his lines like he was late for a bus, the old hack.

Very, very much this. Booker T and Steve Cropper on the stage.

And Sir Tom Jones very definitely doing his bit as well.

Sam Moore is 82, FFS.

I think thats a bit harsh, but i know what you mean and i thought the same.
But Sir Tom is a very good blues & soul singer and a total legend, saw him live many years ago at MGM Grand, he was great.
But as good as he is look at the company he is in tonight. Love BBC 4 on Fridays but this was by far the best of the lot.
James Morrison singing Try a little tenderness (one of my favourite songs) was outstanding.

15) Palace. Zaha is injured, they've got a stubborn inflexible manager who has never worked in England, just signed an unfit defender for £27m, Hennessey is still their first choice 'keeper.
