You're making some good signings IMO (today's signing being a real stand out) and I now think you will stay up but I would back us at the moment looking at both squads. Brighton 16th, Palace 12th.

Palace, this time around, as they've had several seasons to build a squad of PL class players. Benteke and Zaha are both match winners against almost any opposition.

If we can survive this first season, the assurance of another £100m tranche will take us up a level, and players sought will find the club a greater attraction.

I've gone with the Albion on the following basis:

1.That Bloom / Barber have said they intend to bring in 2 more first team squad players and I liked what I saw against Atletico yesterday. The difference between the two teams is currently Benteke. If we bring in a striker that can bag 13-14 goals then I think our chances are good.

2. I'm not convinced that Frank De Boer will do a good job at Palace. The job drained Allardyce and it took him weeks to get Palace playing well enough to steer clear of relegation. You've got huge earners (Zaha, Beneteke, Cabaye) and other guys on modest wages, there are question marks in defence, it could go tits up.

Why are you signing reserve players on loan from Chelsea and Manc Utd, instead of buying, have you really run out of money??

Nothing wrong with the loan signings of Loftus-Cheek and Fosu-Mensah, both very talented players. You've just loaned Brown from Chelsea so I don't really understand your criticism?

You've loaned two reserve players, you've only bought one player, you missed on another one to Stoke today. Have you run out of money, it's a simple question, wasnt it you telling us about the chuckles you were sharing on your message boards about our squad?

We spent £40 million in January so I doubt we will be doing that again but I would except another £20-£25 million to be spent this window on a centre back and a back up striker. There is still 3 weeks to go till the window shuts.

Palace I'd have thought, unless their new manager is as good as Pardew.......

Which Allerdyce spent well. Until then your defence was Championship level.

Forum-Mensah was amazing when he broke through at ManUre and a specialist in his position. Maurinho usually bypasses youth to totally buy a team instead. F-M could be a great signing.

I'd say Palace. But if we manage to stay up this season (and assuming they do), pretty sure it would be the other way round next season.

Difficult decision. Squad wise it should be Palace, but they could finish anywhere from 11th - 20th as they have a squad of sulky over paid lumps who once they don't like how things are being run by the manager don't play their part as they should do. If Things don't start well they will turn on Frank very quickly.

Brighton will finish somewhere between 15th - 18th. Most teams have a stronger squad with more experience but all it takes is for Lady Luck to be on our side and for a few of our other opponents to miss out on crucial points and we could be fine by the end of April.

I think you're being harsh on our players. None of them are "sulky over paid lumps." Under Pardew we underperformed due to his dire tactics. Once Allardyce came in, (after a slow start) the players responded and pulled off some great results against some of the best sides in the division.

The real test for us will be if we can adapt to the new 3-4-3 formation and expansive possession based football FDB wants to implement. If we can get it right we could challenge in the top half. If it goes wrong then we could be back in the relegation dogfight.
