    Plumbing Advise Needed

    0 Not allowed!
Yesterday the water from the taps in my houses started to run without much pressure. When I turn the tap on the water splutters out, then runs at a normal pace for about 5 seconds and then goes down to little more than a dribble. This affects both the hot and cold water.

Can anyone on here shed some light on what the problem might be?

Is it just the bathroom taps?

Has the main kitchen tap got good pressure? If it has and its just the bathroom taps then the hot and cold to them more than likely tank fed. So could be the ballvalve in the tank stuck /blocked causing an airlock when the tank has drained due to usage and not being able to fill back up quickly enough.

If the water has been shut off for some reason recently then it may be just an airlock due to the tank draining, so one way to get rid of this easily is if you have a monobloc tap on the kitchen sink, put your hand over the spout ( tightly) and open the hot side, then gradually open the cold side so the cold mains pressure will travel back up the hot through to the tank and push any air out. Once you can't hold any more shut the cold off and let the hot drain back and that will pull the water through.
You can blow up the taps if you have good lungs, but better to do it with water. If you haven't a tap with a single spout use a hose pipe from the main tap/ garden tap.

If the cold mains / kitchen sink has low pressure then this may be burst main, or problem with the service. = contact water supplier.

      Other than that you're fvcked.
