Have heard this rumour three times in the last 24 hours from three separate sources, anyone else heard it?

If it turns out to be true extremely ambitious on the Eubank camp's part, almost shades of his old man taking on Nigel Benn in 1990 and no one giving him a chance back then.

Oops dates wrong, apologies should be the 29th July.

Seems too short notice with only 8 weeks to go before the fight.

I've heard Eubank is fighting Arthur Abraham which would be a good piece of match making. Jnr would outpoint him easily now.

I don't think we'll ever see Eubank up against Degale or GGG.
No one wants to work with him anymore, I'd be surprised if ITV put him up to headline another event too.

He had fantastic options in front of him with Matchroom but between him and his Dad, they managed to very likely feck his career up.

He'll only start climbing the ladder again if they can arrange a rematch with Frank and Billy.

Have also heard it'll be Arthur Abraham. Big step up and a tough challenge for CEJ. Could be well up for going along if tickets reasonable. If he gets through this then can see a degale fight down the line. Regardless of issues it would draw a huge crowd and ppv audience which makes it viable.

Confirmed:

CHRIS EUBANK Junior will make the first defence of his IBO world super-middleweight title against Arthur Abraham.

Details of the showdown will be officially announced early this week after the Brighton fighter told The Argus last Saturday an announcement was close.

Eubank claimed the IBO belt off Australian Renold Quinlan in February on the newly launched ITV Box Office channel.

This will be his first fight since that stoppage victory and will be on July 15 at the SSE Arena, London, and again televised by pay-per-view channel ITV Box Office.

Eubank Snr is going to/already has shafted Jnr career with his constant meddling.

I know its good to have different promoters etc but if you want the top fights and top earnings you need to be with Hearn.

Eubank Jnr could be one of the best, just see him missing out on all the top fights sadly.

True to a certain extent but those fights will come. He's 27 so has a good few years left.

If he beats Abraham then you would expect the bigger fights to follow thereafter.

Hope so, so many good fights out there for him.

The fights have been in front of him with contracts signed from the other side.
Between him and his dad, he's swerved the lot of them demanding bigger paycheques and making obscene demands.

Matchroom and BoxNation don't need Eubank, there are enough exciting fighters out there willing to put pen to paper with minimal fuss, why would they want another Eubank migraine?

The only way Jr will get a title fight with the big boys, is if he rolls onto his back and signs the contracts with his (and his Dads) mouth shut.
Which ain't gonna happen.

IF he got the decision he deserved against Saunders he'd be having those big fights now. Meanwhile Saunders continues to talk and dodge GGG, its all abit boring. Eubank Jnr beats Abraham and then fights the big boys. Simple

Saunders - Jr was extremely close but Saunders still wins it imo, only by a round, maybe two.
A rematch and Jr probably wins.

Let's say Jr beats Abraham, where does he go then?
None of the other title holders wants the IBO SMW belt.
The promoters don't want to deal with the Eubanks, they don't need to either.

Degale will want that fight regardless what he says publicly and hes also not that embedded with Hearn so could easily flip to ITV for a one off. Degale has never really been that popular and is miles away from PPV fights unless its Groves or Eubank and he'd certainnly fancy beating Chris more than GG.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the fight.
Just based on experience and multiple accounts of dealing with the Eubanks, they will want too much, I doubt they'd even go 50-50.

Degale just went for the WBC right? Why would he want to risk his IBF for a shite belt and possible smaller paycheck?

After Brook lost to Spence and Golovkin and with Khan constantly dodging nobody is interested in him at that weight either.

When Junior beats Abraham this could be natural step up to an elite fighter but at a weight where Junior should win and gives Kell and last pay day in a massive PPV fight before he retires

True, if Brook recovers well and Jr beats Abraham, they could be a good fit with nowhere else to really go for big(ish) £.
First time I'm writing off Jr though, my money will be on AA.
