BT Web Protect: Worth Having, or More Useless Bloatware?

Being a BT Infinity customer, I've just received an email from them, saying I've now been provided with BT Web Protect. With an option to switch it off, if I don't like it.

Now, I've already got Malwarebytes Pro running, and somewhere in the background Windows Defender is going about its protecting business. Both seem to be performing well enough, with regular and reassuring notifications and scan results.

I read somewhere that BT Web Protect is something to do with McAfee or Norton, and that it will slow everything down. And, since the email, my decently-fast PC seems to have slowed down horribly. So my instinct is to turn BT Web Protect off. But I thought I'd seek opinion from the IT sages of NSC first.

Thoughts and advice very welcome!

I wouldn't have any software from a service provider installed, seems a way to advertise by stealth and make you reliant on them and so not switch.

Plus if you're on windows 10 you just don't need it.
