Naturally, what with them all being cyclists, they got up and clawed their way up the side of a mountain, but in the meantime losing all chance of winning.

The police motorcycle was stationary at the side of the road - what was it doing there?

Anyhow it was a cyclist that ran into the motorcycle setting off the accident.
