Mrs. P. Is getting stressed as she is frequently given documents as PDFs but would prefer them in a format she can copy/edit. I note from Googling that there are various free bits of software that will do this, please will you techy types out there let me have you recommendations for something free, effective and that won't send all my passwords to N. Korea. Thank you in anticipation.

I paid for the legit Abobe version. Small beer if you are going to use it often.

Word itself will do this. Right click the file > Open With > Word.

It's surprisingly good. It even appears to have some OCR built in.

It wasn't perfect but it made a good attempt at opening (and converting) a scanned magazine document,
