Once the window shuts on 31st August (presumably), what will our Transfer Record be?

It is probably going to be on a striker isn't it, but we really are talking about having the sort of money that is so far beyond what we've ever had. Even transfer dealings of Prem clubs 3 years ago is blown away by the current TV deal. I think we could spend something close to £20m on someone.

Crazy money, but ....

Not as much as some people will think.

We'll be playing it cautious in our first season with the purse strings so I reckon no more than £7-8m (which still seems absurd to be 'cautious' given how far we've come). If we manage to stay up, that will give us the platform to make bigger signings. Bournemouth (Ibe) and Burnley (Hendrick, Defour) are good case studies here.

But seriously, I'll hazard a guess at £6.7m:-

https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/dec/22/crystal-palace-roger-marti-mitrovic

make a move for Martí – a 25-year-old product of Valencia’s youth system who has scored 20 goals in 32 appearances in the Segunda Division so far this season. It is understood that Palace have scouted Martí on several occasions over the past two months, with the player’s contract containing an €8m (£6.7m) release clause.

NB Have amended the stats, since the article.

At a guess, 9m up front with clauses attached (another 2-3m if we stay up for example).
