Injury luck

Quite an interesting post on the Owl Stalk forum. They are discussing who has had the most settled club this season, in other words who has been luckiest with injuries. The first table is quite flawed, good post explaining why mid way through, but the second effort toward the end is quite interesting. They've taken. The top players for each team (based on whoscored stats) and calculated how many games they've played. Obviously this doesn't account for rotation but the numbers are interesting anyway:

http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/topic/253625-settled-sides-some-stats/

Comes out like crap on a copy/paste from my Omsung Phine, so if some kindly soul could do the honours that would be grand.

haha - Either effort shows Wednesday  as being the most hard done by.

Quelle surprise.

Most of us breathing sigh of relief Murray survived given his career injury spells out. Knocky staying fit was massive too even tho we had our share of guys missing

Doesn't list Kayal who is our best midfielder after Stephens

They don't really take into account Carlos Carvalhal's ability to screw up a settled squad as well as an injury RAVAGED one.

Yeh game attempt but surely the methodology doesn't work as it doesn't quite measure the impact of bad long term injuries just shorter ones.

If Kayal of last season's form had been playing for us throughout the season I think we'd be already up - so we've dominated midfields less but we've had better attackers - but as pointed out already he's not on this list

or Baldock, Rosenior, March. All of whom would arguably be in the first 11 if fully fit.

March is a difficult one. Hughton likes to rotate the wingers apart from Knocky

We've had our share. At times it seemed that our entire defence including cover was wiped out, with only Dunk left, who was on the brink on a lengthy suspension. Some rejigging by CH and others stepped up.

But lucky Murray stayed fit for his key goals.

Yeah it's certainly flawed and we could probably put together our 'first eleven' with a bit of arguing, but who knows about the other teams. It was always going to show them as hard done by, but everything else being equal it does highlight that Hudds have been fairly lucky.

Perhaps offset by the huge number of ref decisions that haven't gone their way, according to their forum anyway. Poor old NUFC have the worst of both those.

They really are something else up there... Saying last year Brighton can't blame their injuries for the play off loss... Now they forget to document 'key' players of all other teams apart from their own to come up with some reasoning as to why they have spent fortunes and are not top of the league.

Wednesday Though

All it shows really is the most 'settled eleven'.

It doesn't differentiate between a player missing because of injury or because he wasn't selected.

I can't wait for them to get lots of injuries in the first leg of the play of semis and to just about manage to keep the score down to 2-0

Only for their injury ravaged team to obliterate their opponents in the 2nd leg and then to narrowly lose out to a goal which should have been a foul against their centre half

That would be real awful for them

Come on...They battered us in both legs...Also battered us in both games this season and can't believe they lost...

Wednesday though

We have been lucky that Murray hasn't been injured or we would have been in trouble. Especially considering baldocks injuries.
