Yeah your right, there is an irony holding the record for a league which they are still stuck in, bit like Forest singing "COE you'll never sing that" while fighting relegation to the third tier

I can honestly say I don't care about it, one bit. I don't know who has the record for any other division and I don't care.

I've always found it bizarre that they still sing "We hold the record, one hundred and six" several years later...as if it's some kind of stick to beat other teams with. As if we all secretly aspire only to beat Reading's total, rather than winning trophies or titles. They really are a Noddy club.

Piece of Albion trivia:

Applying the new system of three points for a win to the 1978/79 season, Albion win Division Two with 79 points. Crystal Palace, the eventual winners, finish fourth on 76- missing out by virtue of Stoke City having scored more goals.

The low points total shows how often teams were inclined to settle for a draw.
