The salary paid to the boss of Southern rail has almost doubled to nearly £500,000 in a year of strike chaos and delays.

Charles Horton’s pay went from £263,000 in the firm’s 2015 financial year to £478,000 in the year to July 2, 2016, despite parent company Govia Thameslink losing more than £15 million.

Mr Horton also appears to have received £17,000 from old Southern rail entity Southern Railway Limited, bringing his annual total to £495,000

That's the TORY way, TREBLES all round

Quite. The government give out these contracts so they can take them back as well. But they don't want to.

People who voted Tory knew the Tories privatise anything and everything, and then buy the shares.
Upshot is that the railways are a mess, extremely expensive and the bosses can get huge pay rises even though they have failed badly.
You wanted it, you got it, live with it.

Summed up the whole national mess in one. Well done.

Seriously. Just how stupid and insensitive can this company be?

There have been some pretty weak remuneration committees out there - but this one takes the biscuit.

This isn't even a political thing. It's just downright stupidity and incompetence by just about the worst company to exist in the U.K.

And just to balance things out, I hope Mick bloody Cash doesn't get a rise either......
