Working just up the road from Rushden and Diamonds and thought I'd post what's left of their ground. Pretty sad really as a decent little ground.
The away stand is the last to come down where we packed it out and won 3-1.

That was a VERY smart little stadium for the levels R & D were playing at. And now its going to be....a leisure and retail park.

What a sad demise.

Was that the match that was nearly aborted because of a fire at the ground. Remember we were in a nearby pub and a Sussex cop came in and said the match may be abandoned?

After that lousy evening journey was just glad it eventually went ahead.

I don't remember that, but it was Coppell's last game in charge. I also remember the Diamond burger which was delicious.

Very much an excellent lower league stadium. Sad to see. Is that Darlington stadium still about?

Yeah, but it hosts egg-chasing now I think, for some local amateur club. 25,000 capacity, lord knows how that is sustainable. I bet their crowds are in the hundreds.

Darlington FC now share a stadium with Darlington RFC.

The giant white elephant stadium is owned (!) and used by Darlington Mowden Park RFC, in front of their regular crowds which are, as you suggest, in the hundreds.

The football club abandoned it after 9 just years. Darlington the town has the same population as Eastbourne. Their stadium was never viable.

Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
I took these before that game. If you look at the corner of the stand roof in the last photo, you'll see a big plastic bird. It was to keep pigeons etc away and there was one in each corner I believe? Sad looking at the OP's pictures. It's like Falmer Watch in reverse.

Our one game there was a cracker with Zesh Rehman (now playing for Gillingham) scoring a lovely goal. Crazy that a stadium only built around 20 years ago is now demolished.

That was the second last game I went to whilst living in England. Less than two weeks later I was in Tokyo.

If I remember correctly it was pretty far from the town(or at least the station) and Zesh Rehman scored a wonder goal in a 3-1 win. I enjoyed that night a lot.

Too bad they went bust.
