Great read - brings it all back. I rushed back from playing a game in Croydon (ironically) that morning to take up residence in the East.

As an aside, I find Steve Gritt's comments in the little box-out quite interesting

I saw the 3 lads, who looked about 16/17, pass me as I was standing in the NW corner, with the bananas in a semi-transparent striped bag, the type you used to get in corner shops. In my naivety, it never occurred to me what they intended to do. I only hope they were "plastics" and no longer have any connection with our club.
