I have received a notification from NHS regarding their new Electronic Prescription Service which will contact your GP and dispense your prescription and deliver it to you.
They are based in Leeds and are arranging this service throughout the country.
Recently patients were advised that as GP`s were very busy they could contact a local pharmacy to assist, this was followed by an announcement that certain payments to pharmacists would be withdrawn which could result in the closure of pharmacys which this Electronic Prescription Service will make even more sure.
GP`s already fax their local pharmacy who can arrange delivery if necessary, this huge new set-up will be receiving a large number of queries so a Call Centre requiring callers to press 1,etc,etc does not attract me and i intend to support my local pharmacy.
