I'm sure this is only temporary and the law will be changed to allow heterosexual couples a civil partnership. Or, now that same-sex couples can get legally married, maybe civil partnerships will be done away with altogether. Either way slowly slowly the government will eventually arrive at the proper outcome, but by christ it takes them long enough

It makes a change from being at a disadvantage for a lot of things. However, it looks like the narrowness of the defeat of the ruling and the explanation as to a possible breach of human rights will mean the law will be changed.
