With news that the game against Burton is sold out and other games coming up also sold out the question is why.

Is it purely down to being in the top 2 with a good chance of going up, the quality of the football being played, the opposition or something else.

Apart from Norwich we haven't destroyed teams at home and in many games we have only just done enough to win without playing well.

In the past challenging for promotion did not guarantee sell outs other than maybe the final game or two.

Or is it the lure of the PL and a scramble to get some advantage for tickets next season if we go up.

Maybe a hard one for NSC as no doubt many if us are ST holders and would go regardless.

The positive spin is a growing fan base, but that will only account for a small % of the latecomers.

Unfortunately it is mainly down to the increased chance of promotion (our best yet) and some of these people have gambled on half-season tickets too.

It's still a good thing, even if we were to fall short, some of the people who have joined us may stick with it.

What it does indicate is the stadium will be absolutely rammed if we do go up, even against the less fashionable opposition.

To be fair there was an offer on this game for cheap tickets so given where we are in the league and Burton looks as if it should be a positive result so no wonder sold out.

If we did go up, and stayed up, I suggest that Stoke City on a wet night in November may not have the appeal that it did first time round.

The special deal offered for the Burton game would have made it more appealing to some of those who might have given it a miss, as does the traditional 3pm Saturday kick off time.

Newcastle was always going to sell as it's a match against a club that has a huge pedigree, that it's a "6 pointer" against our main rival for 1st place has only ensured that it happened a lot sooner than expected.

2 mates for £10 will no doubt swell the crowd. Cat C game so ticket prices a bit cheaper. 3pm kick off on a Saturday. Sold out season tickets.

Yep and nowhere near big enough for the prem but that's another story :)
It's a mixture of reasons although we did average over 27k in that one shite season....Will surely be another record this season and maybe average 28k.
Wether we are doing OK or great we have 23k st holders which is huge :)

In my nine-year-old's case, it's Tuesday night's game against Ipswich that he'll go to due to the half-term, whereas he wouldn't if it was term-time. Saturday 3pms are a rare treat these days, although this season there have been far fewer Tuesday evening home games, especially during term-time. From memory, there's only been two so far, and the Birmingham game is the only one left.
