I'm sure they wouldn't be hated as much if they were near the bottom of the table and not 2nd!

A player recruitment model which Huddersfield and Brentford seem to be copying?

The Germans don't like big corporate machines ruining their game unlike here....Bayern were the closest but Leipzig are a different league when it comes to spending like the Man City's and Chelsea's of our league.

Well done those fans :)

Another thing to note is that when the Berlin wall fell the East & West German leagues merged. Within just a few seasons there were no East German teams left in the top division. I went to the Leipzig stadium during the 2006 world cup and it was a lovely stadium, but league games attracted around 4,000 supporters. So whether they're owned by Red Bull or not, it's nice to see an East German team challenging at the top of the league.

Listening to that on World Service last week.
Crap team, Red Bull, lots of money, rise up the Divisions, 2nd in Bundesliga, formerly communist East German team.
A tale of modern football or a successful Milton Keynes Dons.

Interesting article about Red Bull Leipzig.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-38802113

Germany's most hated club RB Leipzig hit by stones and insults.

One tabloid newspaper, the Berliner Kurier, even refused to print the club's name a few weeks ago, using the insulting term "Dosenverkauf" (Can-sellers) in their Bundesliga table.

Seem to remember around 10 years ago British press wouldn't print the name 'Southampton' and kept referring to them as 'South Coast Club'. Cant remember why that was though?

Aren't they actively looking to take over a club in England.? Think they were linked to Forest and a few others.

What is the possible recruitment link with Huddersfield and Brentford?

They both recruit young unproven players from lower (often non-english) leagues but with high performance stats and import them into a team with a high-pressing, quick movement, quick passing/interplay playing style

Southampton Football Club decided to ban or charge (can't remember which) external photographers from matches. Any photos of the game would be taken by the club photographer and then made available to the media, presumably after being vetted. The Sun took umbrage at this liberty and sarcastically refused to name the Saints in their paper calling them instead the South Coast Club.

A cracking PR own goal by SCC which took them a long time to get over. :D
