Hot on the heels of the prehistoric punch up in quarterfinal 1 comes this absolute humdinger between two of the most venerable beasts in the competition. Between them they have five final appearances and one title to their name. They are ALWAYS there or there abouts and go into every WHC with serious and genuine pretensions to the throne. I say it every match up of every round but it couldn't be more important in a match up of this size...PLEASE THINK CAREFULLY before voting. We're looking for pound for pound hardness. Whoever wins this could genuinely win the whole thing. This could have been the final.

48 hours, two beasts, one vote, one winner.

The combatants:

Honey Badger

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honey_badger

Road to the Quarter finals:

2nd round: beat Seagull 76 - 37
Group A: 1st (44 votes)

Unless you are new to WHC you will know pretty much all their is to know about this absolute beast of a competitor. He's a three time finalist, never overall champion but always the peoples champion as can be seen by the huge number of votes he gets regardless of match up or round. Why is he so popular? Because he was basically invented for the competition. He's a small, muscular, powerful head case. He lives in inhospitable regions alongside some of the most deadly predators on Earth. And he goes at it with them. Poisonous snakes? No problem? The poison might knock him out but when he regains consciousness he'll carry on eating the toxic ****er. Lions? Yeah, no problem. If they get in his way shit is going down. Rumoured to be fond of emasculating his opponents. Size does not matter to this small ball of fur and power and aggression. What more do you want?

VS

Hippo

Road to the quarter finals:

2nd round: beat Bullet Ant 62 - 36
Group A: 2nd (19 votes)

Hippo is another legend of WHC. A double finalist and one time winner he is a ferocious WHC competitor who will destroy any opponent if they're not on the very top of their game. What's the key to Hippo's enduring success? Well, he&s hard as nails basically. Primarily a herbivore(he will occasionally eat carrion) he has no need or real business getting up to the shit that he does. And what exactly is it that he does? For a start he lives in the middle of numerous Apex predators. Predators who have evolved to be the absolute pinnacle of killing machines in their environment- the environment the Hippo shares- and who will do their utmost to avoid confrontation with the Hippo. Why? Because he's a huge, powerful, lairy, argumentative *******. That's why. He'll fight anyone and anything. For no other reason than he likes a fight and feel likes having one. Now. With you. Will chase and attack passing boats. Will attack Nile Crocodiles. Will attack Lions. Will attack anything. Because he wants to.

Hippo is like the 800lbs gorilla in the room...friendly and not normally trouble, just don't cross it,badass as the noisy aggressive badger is,it's all it has to it's game, the hippo would simply scare off larger predators, lions and crocs.....a beast not to be messed with, watch the silent violent one.

Here's an account of someone who supposedly witnessed an actual Honey Badger vs Hippo stand-off. Seems legit going by the 32 pages of blog posts this user has contributed to the website in question:

https://hluhluwegamereserve.com/hippo-honey-badger-stand-off/

A rustle in the bushes and the next moment a Honey Badger appeared on the banks of the Estuary. It would seem that that the Hippo must have seen the Honey Badger earlier and decided for some reason to run out and try and intimidate the Badger. However to the surprise of both the Skipper/Guide and Clients the Honey Badger would not budge. The Hippo made some very loud noises and still the Badger refused to budge, more gestures from the Hippo to retrace his steps back into the bush also failed. This continued for some time and still the Badger refused to move in fact the Badger now slowly progressed forward towards the Hippo. This surely could not be a Badger intimidating a Hippo well the next moment the Hippo turned around and darted back into the water, leaving the Badger closer to the waters edge than before.

The victor was without a doubt the Badger, what caused this all we are still not sure however once again the Honey Badger has proven himself as a determined and unintimidated creature. What an experience for off the Skipper as well. It never ceases to amaze us just when we think we have seen it all we are surprised once again.

Can you please stop referring to that badger as 'the people's champion'? It's clearly not.

Highest number of overall votes of any creature across the history of the competition. Only stopped from winning due to FIFA-esq tactics. CLEARLY the undisputed people's champion.

Game over. Embarrassing.

Actually you're right. Anything referred to as "the people's choice is by definition crap viz Princess Diana was the people's princess, Labour the people's party, The Sun is the people's newspaper. It's a title given to crap things so they don't feel left out for not having achieved anything.

Indeed. Democratic PEOPLE'S Republic of Korea is another example.

Highest number of votes in the history of the WHC. You've embarrassed yourself there but keep digging.

Eh? It keeps getting knocked out when it matters. It's a flat-track bully.

Most votes? That's like saying a football team deserves to be called the true FA Cup winners because although they keep getting beaten in the final they score the most goals in the preceding matches. There's only one person embarrassing himself by inventing spurious rules and it ain't me.

I think you misunderstand what people's champion means. It's well known that he would've won the WHC twice by now if it was up to the people and not voter fraud.

Excellent analogy.

Fluffy Badger = Graeme Hick
Looks devastating smashing the County trundlers around the park, but found wanting when the world-class Test quicks rough him up.
