Kicking off the second batch of second round fixtures is the returning big boy of the competition against a relative newbie. On the face of it the newbie has a mountain to climb if he wants to progress but things have moved on since the Polar Bear dominated the early days of WHC. Have they moved on enough to see him eliminated?

As always 48 hours, two beasts, one winner, one vote. Think carefully.

Three times champion, never beaten polar bear showed depending on your viewpoint his first signs of weakness or simply some expected rustiness in his qualifying group by finishing runner up. Is it the start of a slide from greatness? Or is he just warming up after entering the competition for the first time in a number of years. Extraordinarily powerful, extremely aggressive when it wants to be, capable of scaling sheer cliff faces they are a formidable opponent. Primarily they hunt and eat seals but are not averse to attacking Walruses or Whales. If they perceive someone or something to be a threat they will actively attack and destroy. One swipe of their paw is strong enough to knock a humans head off.

Vs

Tarantula Hawk

Road to second round:
Group A: 4th (13 votes)

The Tarantula Hawk is one of the biggest of the wasp family, has the second most painful sting in the insect world and gets its name from hunting Tarantulas. The fermale T. Hawk will sting and paralyse it's prey before dragging it to its specially prepared breeding ground where it will lay a single egg on the Tarantula's abdomen. When the egg hatches the larvae will eat through the spiders abdomen and then feeds voraciously on the Tarantulas inside, taking care not to eat any of the vital organs thus prolonging the Tarantulas life(and agony) and the larva's food source. After several weeks the larva will eat its way out of the abdomen and go off in its attempt to repeat the life cycle.

Also loves a bit of nectar and is not fussy whether its fermented or not which means it gets drunk. So what we have is an insect that hunts Tarantulas, lays eggs on it that eat it from the inside out and then goes off and gets pissed.
