In 1995, Manchester United striker Eric Cantona kung-fu kicked a fan after being sent off in a match at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace. The Frenchman was suspended for nine months, fined £20,000 and ordered to carry out 120 hours of community service.

I remember getting home that evening and my house mates stopping me from turning the radio on or going straight out to the pub until I'd watched the news. They had the VCR set up to tape it and just said something has happened that's going to make you very, very happy.

The odd thing about the faces in the crowd are that half look shocked whilst the other half look totally unconcerned! I was all set for the Cantona chants at the following Rotherham(I think) v Albion match but it fell foul of the weather.

I was looking at all the faces in that photo, two blokes top middle with mouths wide open in shock, bloke to right of Cantona wearing black looks like he doesn't know what day it is. ( Typical Palace fan )
