Nah. 89 points for third was bit of a freak last season. Add to my thinking, that im not expecting us to lose all the games we dont win. A draw in half of them sees us on 89 anyhow.

I agree ... 3rd will struggle to get to 89 from my look at fixtures

Means we have 28 points to play with whereas Leeds have 19 Reading 20 and Hudders 17. If the total needed is higher all the better as they will have even less points they can lose

The way I see it 2 points per game all but guarantees promotion. We are ahead of that so all good, so are Newcastle. But Leeds & Reading are not far off that, 4 points each. If they were to each win their next 4 games they too would be on 2 points per game. Unlikely perhaps but should either of them catch up to 2 points per game then 3rd place could have 90+ points. So at least 12 wins from last 20 will do it for me.

BTW I can't see Reading getting close to 2 ppg so that just leaves Leeds.

Aim for 92. That's probably 12 wins n the 2nd half, of which we already have 2 from 3 tricky games against top half sides. Assumes we won't lose more than 5 of the last 23.
So I'm counting off 10 more wins required....

This. In the second half of the season we have ticked off three hard games (Fulham, Preston and Wednesday) the chasing pack will drop points against these sides.

I've said before we will drop points in the final straight but so will the others, January and February are going to define our season.

I also doubt many at all had the lead to 3rd that we do at this stage - possibly 1 or 2 out of 11 I'd guess...

6 wins, 1 loss and drawing the rest would be enough.
