I've just loaded Firefox onto a new PC and it works fine but every tine I start it as well as the home page it loads a separate tab with the Options page.

Any idea how I stop this?

Click on the three horizontal bars (top right normally), then Options, General, and check what is in Home Page field. Bet it is your chosen home page plus the Options page...

I opened this thread expecting to find a question about maintaining a MiG-31.

So it is! I'd already checked that but saw my home page was set to BBC news but didn't notice the second page. I wonder how that happened?
