Opening myself up to lots of abuse no doubt but hoping for some help please.

Here goes:

Just got off the phone with Bet365.I have previously had a bet365 account and closed it. I opened a new account today: same personal details but new id.

I placed a bet on the newcastle game and (I'll be honest) as things were not going to plan I tried to make an additional bet on Wednesday to make some form of winning. I went to place the bet but couldn't as the money in my account had disappeared: apparently it had been returned to my bank account and my account suspended.

The guy on the phone said that as I have not made a reactivation call my account got suspended but they only noticed after I placed my initial bet. So my initial bet still stands.

Can anyone clarify, does the initial bet still stand by someone who has self excluded themselves from using this betting company. The guy says that to use bet365 again I needed to make a reactivation call to use them again.

I never made the call so am thinking that all bets I made with them today should be void and initial deposit returned to my bank account. May be completely wrong but have a feeling that if I had won as opposed to lose they wouldn't have paid out.

Hope this makes sense and someone can let me know if this something I should pursue?

Any advice/ abuse greatly appreciated :)

Cheers

From their terms and Conditions these are relevant.

4.1 If you want to close your account, please Contact Us. Any negative balance on your account will fall immediately due and payable to bet365, and your account will not be closed until the relevant amount owed to bet365 is paid in full.

5.2 You can ‘reactivate’ your account by: (i) making a successful deposit; (ii) placing a Sports or Financials bet; or (iii) playing/taking part in any Casino, Poker, Games, Vegas or Bingo product.

There is nothing in their terms and conditions about reactivating your account by making a phone call. . It also states you are only allowed 1 account. If you closed it as stated, and then opened another one with the same personal details, you are not being fraudulent by trying to have multiple accounts. They could have refused your account application if they thought that was a problem. Did you accept their new customer bonus though ? That might be a reason, as you would already have claimed it when you first opened your account, and claiming one twice would be fraudulent.

Either they shouldn't have accepted your new account application in the first place, or all bets should be voided. They are playing this both ways. I would ask them to point you to where it says in their Terms & Conditions that a reactivation phone call is required. otherwise you may suggest going to the regulator unless they refund your initial deposit

You use the term "self excluded" but only as a sort of afterthought. Can you clarify

Yes, did the OP try his existing/previous log-in first to see if it worked. If he had genuinely closed his account then opening a new one wouldn't be an issue with the same details I wouldn't have thought, but opening a new one when you have an existing one is a big no no. Should have been flagged up though when he re-registered if he genuinely used the same details

No, I didn't take up any bonuses. I just placed a bet £200 ( stupid I know) on a new account when I had previously self excluded myself. As far as I can see all bets should be void: win/lose. Not sure though tbh.

Do you know the details of a gambling regulator?

Thanks for the response

What I'm getting at is did he "self exclude" like they do in the shops I.e provide a photo and you are banned from the shop (usually due to a gambling problem) it is then down to staff usually on minimum wage to then stop them betting, however if they do manage to bet, all bets stand win or lose (and the staff end up on a disciplinary)

Quick question. Why choose to open/reopen an account at a Bookmaker you've self excluded from ? Plenty of others, and you'd have been able to claim a new customer bonus as well

If you self excluded due to problem gambling, then this could be a blessing in disguise. Not sure why anyone else would self exclude.

You can only self-exclude from a Shop Bookie or a casino surely. If you want to do this at an online book, you can just close the account, which the OP says he asks them to do

It was the first one I can think of. I appreciate i am just trying to get my money back on a technicality: I assume bet365 would act similarly if necessary.

They are saying that once they noticed I had excluded myself previously they suspended my account. My point is that all bets should be void irrelevant if they have won/lost

Thanks

Maybe you should have checked your previous log-in or checked with CS whether your account was still OK to log-in on. For me, the important point would be whether your account was actually closed. If it was just dormant, they have you. It it was closed, you may have a case. A £200 bet ? Coincidence that that is the Max 100% first deposit bonus as well, although you claim you didn't accept that ?

So have you simply closed your account or actually "self excluded"? I don't want to keep labouring the point but they are two different things.

Apologies if I see it as important but 27 years working for Britains biggest bookmaker sort of does that to you

When you close accounts online they ask the reason why, if you say it's due to a gambling problem then that is the same as self excluding.

Indeed, this is the nub of the issue.

Self-Exclusion
If you feel you are at risk of developing a gambling problem or believe you currently have a gambling problem, please consider Self-Exclusion.
If you want to stop playing for any other reason, please consider taking a Time-Out or using Account Closure.
Self-Exclusion allows you to close your account for a specified period of 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 5 years. This prevents you gambling with bet365 for your selected period of time.
During a period of self-exclusion you will not be able to use your account for betting and gaming, although you will still be able to login to withdraw any remaining balance. It will not be possible to re-open your account for any reason, and bet365 will do all it can to detect and close any new accounts you may open.
You also have the option of selecting which areas of the site you would like to limit your access to, for example, Sports, Poker or all Gaming products.
Should you opt to self-exclude from bet365, we strongly recommend that you seek exclusion from all other gambling operators you have an account with.
Whilst we will remove you from our marketing databases, we also suggest that you remove bet365 from your notifications and delete/uninstall all bet365 apps, downloads and social media links. You may also wish to consider installing software that blocks access to gambling websites, click here for more information.
We recommend that you seek support from a problem gambling support service to help you deal with your problem.
You can self-exclude your account in the Responsible Gambling Controls section of Members by choosing Self-Exclusion.
Alternatively you can Contact our customer service team for assistance and further information.

Thanks for your input mate. It is just coincidence tho. 200 was based on the acculmaltor I would have done with man u, Chelsea, arsenal.

Basically, I'm hoping that if someone has "self excluded" themselves and tries to open a new account all bets will be void once noticed???

Not sure on the official T&C. The guy on the phone want either....

When you close accounts online they ask the reason why, if you say it's due to a gambling problem then that is the same as self excluding.

If you ask them to close your account, and they don't then they are in the wrong here IMHO. If the OP just asked for self-exclusion, and used opening a new account to get round that he is in the wrong. It should have been picked up on opening the new account, and he is unfortunate, but he should have used a different bookie. If Bet365 was the first to come to mind, surely he would have tried his existing log-in
